The theme of the first Southern African Mountain Conference (SAMC2022) will be "Southern African mountains – their value and vulnerabilities". Organized by the African Mountain Research Foundation, in association with the Afromontane Research Unit (University of the Free State) and Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS – United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security and Eurac Research), SAMC2022 will be held at the Champagne Sports Resort in the Maloti-Drakensberg Mountains.

The International Mountain Conference 2022 (IMC2022), to be hosted by the University of Innsbruck, will support mountain research and exchange among disciplines to gather and shape all available knowledge.
